Hillary Clinton Politely Points Out That Donald Trump Doesn't Know Shit About Women

Today at 5:30 A.M., Donald Trump decided to tweet some slut-shaming, falsified bullshit about Alicia Machado. As a reminder, Machado was Miss Universe 1996, and after her win, endured verbal and emotional abuse from Donald Trump, who called her "housekeeper" and shamed her for gaining weight. Since then, Machado has become a United States citizen and has openly campaigned for Hillary Clinton. Clinton brought her up during the debate earlier this week as an example of the horrible ways Trump sees and treats women, and Trump has reacted by doubling down on his beliefs (saying in a press conference that Machado's weight gain was a problem) and then, this morning on Twitter, throwing a hissy fit.

Trump tweeted this morning that Machado has a sex tape and theorized that her citizenship is due to her friendship with Clinton. He called her names like "disgusting" and "my worst Miss [Universe]."

First off, such a tape doesn't exist. According to Snopes, there's absolutely no proof that Machado made a sex tape or did porn or any of the other lies that Trump has circulated online. It's just pure nastiness to try to destroy Machado's life as payback for whatever insult he's perceived.

Secondly, even if the sex tape did exist, who the fuck cares? Alicia Machado can do whatever she wants with her life, and making a sex tape is a personal (or public) act that impacts literally zero people. I can guarantee you Trump has enjoyed a sex tape or hundred in his lifetime, and that's his prerogative as well. Shaming women for their sexuality is regressive and dumb, but it's especially abhorrent coming from a PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE who rates women on a 10-scale, facilitates a pageant that prizes unrealistic standards of beauty over any other characteristic, and celebrates his own penis size in political settings. Trump demands beauty and sexuality from women, but punishes them when they take ownership over it. This is the most despicable phylum of misogyny; it demands women be sexual objects while robbing us of feeling sexually empowered.

The added implication that Machado somehow "cheated" to become a U.S. citizen escapes reason. All of this was noted by Hillary Clinton, who took to her Twitter to address it.

She went on to comment that Trump values women based on their attractiveness by his own standards, and that he punishes women who don't meet them. She dubbed this five-day attack the "Machado meltdown."

Trump is panicking and is grasping at straws. It's transparent and maybe even boring at this point. But in cases like this, when an opinion about women is terrible but also held by many Americans across the country? It's worth calling bullshit. Women can do whatever the fuck they want with their sexuality, which is a basic concept beyond Trump's comprehension.
