You could do much worse than to crib the entirety of Brad Pitt’s wardrobe in Quentin Tarantino’s hotly anticipated Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Veteran costume designer Ariane Phillips swathed Pitt’s late-’60s stuntman character in a whole bunch of era-specific staples that, not coincidentally, are as fire as ever in 2019: gonzo Hawaiian shirts, tough-as-hell trucker jackets, and big ol’ shades. But the pièce de résistance of Pitt’s Once Upon a Time fits might be what’s on his feet: a pair of Minnetonka moccasin boots that originally launched in 1969 (the year the movie is set), but have just been reissued because, you know, Brad Pitt looks really dope in ‘em on the big screen.

Now, it’s important to note that, historically, trying to crib Brad Pitt’s style is like all-you-can-eat sushi—the idea sounds great, but rarely works out the way you intended. Pitt is blessed with the bone structure of a Norse god and enough charisma to help a movie about baseball analytics score over $100 million at the box office, so he can make a dirty old tee look worthy of the Met Gala or grow a real-life Jack Sparrow beard that somehow seems totally passable.

But given that every menswear dude on Instagram now dresses like an acid-tripping Deadhead, Pitt’s hippy-dippy Minnetonka boots from Once Upon a Time are part of a fashion comeback. Do fringed suede and metal conchos go with everything? No, and yes. If you take the Dress Like Pitt challenge with these Minnetonkas, you’ve got to wear them like you would an average pair of Wallabees or desert boots—in a kind of unworried, unhurried manner. You’ve got to let the vibes happen. Wearing these is as easy as you make it—and cheap, too: the boots clock in at just $70.
