Every few months, it seems that someone circulates a photo of Martha Stewart smoldering as a young model in front of a cow or lazing in a leotard. Sometimes that someone is even Martha herself! We are living, the message goes, in a Martha Stewart Renaissance.

But can you really have a renaissance if you never truly re’d? In other words: Martha Stewart has never stopped being cool. She’s been cool for her whole entire life, from the moment she was born—the “naissance,” if you will—until literally yesterday. Seriously! Just look at this ensemble, the Fit Finale to a Super Bowl weekend in which she ate Joe’s Stone Crab with her banker, Jane (bibs on, baby!) and celebrated Tostito’s and their custom nachos bar while shouting out her confidante Snoop Dogg. She “stepped out,” to borrow some breathless tabloid parlance, in a camouflage work jacket with luxe leather pockets and a gold sequin mini skirt. And she “flaunted her toned pins,” to borrow some more tabloid-speak, with a pair of brown leather sequin booties.

If this isn’t proof that every age is Martha Stewart’s Golden Age, that there is no Renaissance but only ‘Naissance…. then we vow never to eat a perfect pie again.
