Nah, see, I'm a basketball player,

and I think basketball players

should only wear one chain at a time.

We leave that to rappers.

Rappers like to wear all those chains.

What's up, GQ?

This is Anthony Edwards, and these are my essentials.

[smooth music]

My first essential, the Yeezy Slides.

They're super important to me

because they make me taller than what I am

and I can wear 'em everywhere.

Although I'm into high fashion,

I always wanna be comfortable.

And they're my favorite color, which is blue.

[Interviewer] Are you a big fan

of all the Yeezy collection?

Yeah, for sure.

Every shoe that he's made, every slide that he's made,

I always get 'em.

[smooth music]

My favorite essential, my son, Ant Jr, and he's my dog.

My most important thing in my life besides basketball

is my dog.

My favorite person in the world.

He can't be still right now, I don't know what's going on,

but he's the best in the world.

Two years old, English bulldog. Look at him.

You just wanna, you just wanna be around me, man.

I love him.

[group laughing]

When he was a baby, I used to let him lay on my chest

like, on the couch and play the game

and like, do all type of stuff with him.

And now he uses the same stuff.

Like he might, I might be asleep,

he gonna come jump on my chest and just lay down.

And I might look at him crazy,

and he might look at me crazy,

like this what you used to do with me anyways.

I might get in the shower, he gonna sit right by the shower.

I'm using the bathroom, he in the bathroom.

Yeah, he's the most loyal dog I've ever met in my life.

My girlfriend, he always chooses her over with me

for some reason, I don't get it.

[smooth music]

Chester's Hot Fries, the best chips that are ever made.

I've been eating 'em

since I was probably like, five years old.

I prefer these over any chips in the world.

Probably eat like three a day.

You do the math. What is that, 21 bags?

Yeah, I eat that many. Probably more though, for real.

[chuckling] Depending on how long my day is.

[smooth music]

This is actually my cleanup ball.

So I have like, a a hammer ball and a cleanup ball.

This is my cleanup ball. It's about 13 pounds.

I mean, I bowl almost every day.

Like, we got like a two, three day break,

I'm definitely gonna go bowl for sure.

Like, me and my girl gonna go bowl.

Yeah, my bowl name Ant. Not crazy, super simple.

I will tell y'all my other name, but not on camera.

[Interviewer] When did you start bowling?

Like a year ago. And I got pretty good super fast.

We just was talking trash to each other like,

let's go bowling.

I never went bowling.

I lost the first couple times

and then after that it was over with.

I think I'm good enough to compete

with the best players in the world.

I take it very serious when I go with my friends.

I don't let my girl beat me never, so, like....

I just started spinning, so this is my straight ball,

but now that I spin I don't use it anymore,

I let my partner use it.

He's getting pretty good too, but he'll never beat me.

[Interviewer] Have you ever gotten a turkey?

A turkey? I done got a ham.

Like five, six strikes in a row.

Me and my dude Jarred Vanderbilt,

we used to always go bowling.

He trash, but it, it is fun to go.

I don't care who I'm with, what I got on,

I'd rip my pants to try to bowl a 300.

My next item is a picture of my mom.

She's like the most important person in the world.

My girl have it on her phone. I got it on my phone.

So, we always keep her close.

[Interviewer] What's something that you learned from her?

To never be too down about anything.

That's why I'm always smiling. I'm always happy.

So, I got that from her.

Little league football games, those are the best.

She would be running up and down the sidelines with me

every time I'd score a touchdown.

Yeah, number one fan. Yeah, for sure.

[smooth music]

Next up, my AE5 chain.

The biggest chain that I got, my favorite chain.

I think it draws all the attention in the world.

[chuckling] Probably too much attention,

but I love the chain.

I like jewelry, I like chains.

Rappers like to wear all the chains, all the watches.

Two watches, bracelets, rings, not just one chain.

Keep it nice and simple.

This is my logo, so I wear it when I'm,

you know, having fun with my friends pretty much.

That's the only time. I wear it to the game.

[indistinct] style, definitely gotta wear this.

But I got, I got some other chains that's pretty nice too.

Sometimes I might wear

just like a Adidas jumpsuit or something,

so I don't, I don't put too much into it.

Sometimes they be like, okay Ant got dressed today.

My next essential, deck of cards.

Super important to me because I love to play Spades all day.

Like, when I'm not doing anything that I have to do,

I wanna play spades.

[Interviewer] Do you play with your teammates as well?

No, I just started playing not too long ago.

But it's probably the best thing I've been doing

since this summer, yeah.

I'm gonna try to get everybody to play me in Spades

'cause I feel like I'm the best in the world in Spades.

The second best person on the team in Spades

probably would be D'Lo after me.

Next up my speaker, man. I love music, big music guy.

My brother's a rapper, and I love to listen to him 24/7.

So, my speaker is always important.

My favorite genre is hip hop.

I like a little R&B every now and then.

[Interviewer] What would you say are the top three people

you're listening to?

My brother, Lil Baby, and probably Future.

But the music that pumps me up before every game,

I listen to Nicki Minaj.

She the best in the world, yeah. Just shuffle it.

I don't even have a favorite song. I just love her music.

[smooth music]

My Mercedes, my AMG.

It was the pre-draft process, and this was my first car,

so this is the most important car I've ever, ever bought.

It's actually right outside. It's my favorite car, yeah.

It's matte black, 5% tint on the windows.

The inside is all blue, steering wheel blue.

So, like I said, blue is my favorite color.

I mean it's, it's a beautiful car.

Another essential, my fitted hats.

They wasn't super important to me until I cut my hair.

Now that I cut my hair, I like to wear fitted hats,

and especially ones that's from Atlanta.

Like, these, both of these are Brave hats.

I love to rep my city.

I played baseball till I was about 14.

I played football till I was like 16.

I probably wore like a t-shirt like this

with some Gallery Dept. jeans

with some white, blue and red shoes,

and then just throw this hat on and I'll be all right.

[smooth music]

All right, GQ, it's Anthony Edwards checking in.

I hope y'all enjoyed my essentials. I'm out.

[smooth music ending]
