Saturday Night Live's 44th season came to a close last weekend with a blowout show hosted by Paul Rudd and musical guest DJ Khaled, who brought along a whole roster of friends including Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, and SZA. The episode relied on many tried and true Saturday Night Live formats beginning with a Trump musical number, similar to the cold open that closed out Season 42. This time around, Trump and Co. perform a rendition of Queen's "Don't Stop Me Now."
Other highlights from the finale included Pete Davidson’s Game of Thrones-turned-Grace and Frankie stan rap, featuring a cameo from the legends themselves, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda. Cecily Strong returned to Weekend Update with her incredible Judge Jeanine impression, splashing and spitting her martini all over Colin Jost.
The most underrated sketch of the night came in the latter half of the show, in the second-to-last spot, when we checked in on our two favorite SNL lovebirds: Kyle Mooney and Leslie Jones. If you haven’t been keeping up, the recurring bit revolves around the pair's ongoing behind-the-scenes romance. The sexual tension reaches fever pitch in this clip, which includes a whimsical interlude to the Carpenters' "(They Long To Be) Closer To You" as well as a threesome with Paul Rudd. Happy summer, indeed!
