Welcome back, Slimer?

Nineties nostalgia on the Internet can be incredibly cloying. But every once in a while, there is something worth getting nostalgic over, and this might just be it. Hi-C Ecto Cooler was a staple of lunch boxes nation-wide for years. How good was it? The green-colored, orange-flavored, Ghostbusters-themed juice was developed in the late '80s, but it remained on shelves all the way until 2001. The last Ghostbusters movie came out in 1989.

That's a product tie-in that outlasted its franchise by 12 years! That's how good it was. Well, after more than a decade of an Ecto Cooler-free juice box selection, things might be looking up. Coca-Cola, which owns Hi-C re-registered the trademark for the brand in September.

It makes sense. With a new Ghostbusters movie set to arrive next year, it seems like the perfect time to get Slimer back out there hocking delicious juice. (Don't you dare "New Coke" this Coca-Cola. Original recipe or bust.) I imagine taking one sip of it will bring me back to the St. Rita School cafeteria/gym/auditorium. Visions of mix tapes, President Clinton, and D.A.R.E will dance in my head. I'm so excited for this that I'm preemptively nostalgic for the nostalgia that I will feel upon drinking it.
